Summer Season 2011 & New Honored Heros...

The Summer Season for TEAM in TRAINING has officially begun. Our first training was this past Saturday. It was exciting to be back and meet all the new participants. This season I am going to do my best to share the mission moments on my blog each week. Every Saturday before we head out for that week's long run we hear from someone who has a connection to the cause and why they chose to get involved with TNT. Every mission moment is different...some make you smile, some make you laugh and some make you cry but they always provide just the right amount of inspiration!

Meet Cutler...

Cutler was diagnosed with Leukemia in September 2009 at the age of 6 months! Some of you might notice why this one might be close to my heart...Allie was 7 months old at her diagnosis. It is not common for a children to be diagnosed under the age of 1. Numerous rounds of chemo and a bone marrow transplant...Cutler is 100% healthy and turning 2 next month. February 8 also marked the one-year anniversary that Cutler was released from the hospital following his bone marrow transplant. What a blessing! Melanie, Cutler's mom, wants to give back so she signed up to run her first FULL marathon in San Diego this June. To learn more about Cutler, please see their family blog.

Did you know as a group, leukemias account for about 25% of all childhood cancers and affect about 2,200 American young people each year. Luckily, the chances for a cure are very good with leukemia. With treatment, most children with leukemia will be free of the disease without it coming back. But I want that statement to read ALL children!

So if you are asked by a friend or family member to donate to their efforts for TEAM in TRAINING please give...every dollar helps find a cure. Be assured that 75% of your donation to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society goes directly to research and patient services!

We are off to a great season - GO TEAM!
